Eva Carceles-Poveda

Carceles-Poveda obtained her Ph.D. in economics from Pompeu Fabra University, Spain in 2001. Currently, she is an associate professor of economics at Stony Brook University, where she teaches macroeconomics, computational methods, international economics and principles of economics. Her research interests include macroeconomics (both theoretical and applied) and financial economics. Her research to date has focused on understanding how financial frictions affect the real macro economy. In particular, she has studied the impact of shareholder disagreement at the firm level as well as of different firm financial policies on the economy’s investment and growth. Moreover, she has written on transnational terrorism, on the optimal design of credit card limits and on the impact on different population groups of different tax reforms, such as an increase in the progressivity of the labor income tax code. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Theoretical Economics,  International Economic Review, Review of Economic Dynamics, and Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. Previously, Prof. Carceles-Poveda held visiting positions at the Minneapolis Federal Reserve, the Institute of Economic Analysis in Barcelona (Spain), as well as the departments of economics of the University of Rochester, USC, UCLA, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), Humbold University (Germany), the University of Marne la Valle (France) and Goethe University at Frankfurt (Germany).
