Jody Schimmel Hyde

Senior Researcher, Mathematica Policy Research

Dr. Jody Schimmel Hyde is currently a Senior Researcher at Mathematica Policy Research, where she conducts research related to disability and aging policy with an emphasis on employment outcomes.  She is also Deputy Director at the Center for Studying Disability Policy. Her recent work for MRDRC includes a project exploring policy options to protect older workers who experience disability onset from poverty while simultaneously encouraging work (with David Stapleton) and another project that considers the extent to which Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries restrain earnings to maintain their cash benefits (also with Stapleton). Schimmel completed her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Michigan in 2005, where she was a National Institute of Aging Pre-Doctoral Fellow and a Research Assistant at the Health and Retirement Study.
