John Cawley

John Cawley is a professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management at Cornell University. His primary field of research is health economics, with a focus on the economics of obesity. John’s research has been published in the American Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, and other peer-reviewed journals. His research has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and other sources. He has served on expert panels and advisory committees for the Institute of Medicine, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration, and Federal Communications Commission. John was awarded the John D. Thompson Prize for Young Investigators by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration in 2005. In addition to his affiliation with Cornell, John is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in the Programs on Health Economics and Health Care. John received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago in 1999 and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 1993.
