Charles Brown obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He is a past director of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) and Research Professor emeritus at the Institute for Social Research and Professor emeritus of Economics, University of Michigan. He is an empirically-oriented labor economist whose research has focused on compensating differentials, minimum wage laws, employer size and labor market outcomes, and measurement error in survey data.
