The Effect of the Americans with Disabilities Act on Social Security Disability Insurance

Abstract

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was introduced in 1990 with the goal of protecting disabled workers. While a number of studies have examined the impact of the ADA on the employment of disabled individuals, it is also important to understand the impact on their Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) use. This project will use state and county administrative data to assess the effect of the ADA on SSDI outcomes.
