Elizabeth Powers

Elizabeth Powers is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Government and Public Affairs and the Department of Economics and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the University of Illinois, she was an Economist in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. She also served as a Junior Staff Economist for the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President. She has published papers on the incentive effects of welfare programs and other welfare-related topics. Her research interests include public economics, welfare programs, and poverty and inequality. Dr. Powers received her PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
