Daniel Silverman

Daniel Silverman (PhD, economics, U Pennsylvania; MPP, Harvard) is the Rondthaler Professor of Economics at Arizona State University, Faculty Associate of the Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research, and a member of the MRRC Executive Committee. He received a Ph.D. Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, and is a Faculty Associate of the NBER, and a co-Editor of the American Economic Journal — Economic Policy. His recent research has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of the European Economic Association, and the Journal of Public Economics. In 2005-2006 he was a visiting member of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton, NJ. His work with Hanming Fang and Michael Keane won the 18th Annual Kenneth Arrow Award from the International Health Economics Association for the best paper in Health Economics published in 2008. His research bridges public and labor economics. His recent research focuses on social insurance policy and the quality of economic decision-making. He has studied how government welfare policies, health insurance, social arrangements, and psychological biases influence labor supply, wages and the demand for health.
