Amy Rauer
Amy Rauer (Ph.D., Developmental Psychology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) is an Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Studies at Auburn University, and an adjunct behavioral scientist at the RAND Corporation. Her research agenda focuses on how the contexts in which intimate relationships occur influences their functioning, and how these intimate relationships are in turn linked to health and well-being across the lifespan. Her current research focuses on identifying the mechanisms underlying the link between older adults’ marital history and health using panel data from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) and the Study of Assets and Health Dynamics Among the Oldest Old (AHEAD). Other ongoing work includes a study examining how individual, environmental, and couple risk factors combine and interact to influence the quality of intimate relationships; and a study examining the roots of marital satisfaction in a sample of happily married couples. She has been the recipient of the University of Michigan Rackham Regents Fellowship Award and the National Council on Family Relations Outstanding New Professional Award, which are both awarded in recognition of outstanding scholarship.
